What are combat mods and where can I get them?

Combat Mods are a way for you to upgrade and modify your characters. You can equip mods on characters to increase their stats or add new abilities, allowing for deeper customization of combat. Combat mods are available as rewards through various events and roadmaps. They will also be available through store purchases and offers. Mods can be equipped directly onto a character on their dossier page or through the mods inventory screen. Equipping the mod to the character will remove it from your regular inventory screen.

How many combat mods can be equipped?

A total of 5 combat mods and be equipped by a 6 star or Mythic character. 5 Star characters can equip a maximum of 4 mods and 4 star character characters can equip a maximum of 3. 4 Star Characters are not able to equip auxiliary mods. Using specific mods together can result in characters receiving a set bonus.

What are set bonuses and how do I get them?

As you equip mods on your characters, you’ll notice you’re able to form sets and receive a set bonus.
  • Sets are formed by equipping at least 3 mods that share the same set bonus on a character.
  • There are four potential set bonuses: Attack, Defense, HP and Crit damage.
  • Set bonuses will increase when you equip 4 and 5 mods of the same set bonus, as well as with higher rarity mods.

What are the types of mods?

There are four categories of mods. Each category has a different set of effects:
  • Stat mods: Stat mods can be used to increase your characters’ attack, defense, hp, or crit chance.
  • Trait mods: Trait mods can be used to modify your characters’ attack or defense advantages vs specific traits -- Tough, Alert, Strong, Fast.
  • Resistance mods: Resistance mods provide your characters with a chance to nullify certain combat effects, like stun, impair, bleed, etc.
  • Auxiliary mods: Auxiliary mods grant your characters unique effects on defense and on basic attacks.

Rarity

Mods come in five different rarities -- bronze, silver, gold, platinum and paragon. All current mod effects will be available in all rarity types. Rarity affects the potential magnitude of a mod’s effect, as follows:
  • At level 1, every mod starts with a base effect value that generally increases as you level up the mod to its maximum level of 15. Higher rarity mods have higher base effects, and base effect progression is consistent across rarity -- for example, all gold attack mods will have the same base effect value at level 15.
  • Bonus effect values are unlocked for every mod at levels 5, 10, and 15. These bonus values are randomly generated, with higher potential values available for higher rarity mods.

How do I level up my mods?

Mods are leveled up using new items called Mod Scrap.
  • Mod scrap is obtained by converting Materials, dismantling unwanted mods and through various events in the game such as tournaments, events, roadmaps, collections and Recruits & Rewards.
  • There is a daily cap on Materials conversion, however, you will be able to convert more than 100% of the Materials you generate from Material posts.
Leveling up mods is a bit different than leveling up characters. All you need to level up mods is mod scrap, however, mod level up attempts are not guaranteed to succeed. Successful level-ups become more difficult at higher mod levels. Mod scraps are acquired by breaking down mods and through various events in the game such as tournaments, events, roadmaps, collections and Recruits & Rewards.

Note: Paragon Mods cannot be further levelled-up, they are already 'Max' level when credited to the players.

How do I unequip a mod?

Once a character has been equipped with a mod, the mod can be unequipped for the cost of mod scraps. The cost will be vary dependant on the mod. Once the mod is unequipped it can be equipped to other characters.Alternatively, mods will be automatically removed from a character and placed in inventory if the character that is equipped with the mods is used to level up another character, ascend, consumed in a collection or is sold in the supply depot.
