What are Faction Territories?
Faction Territories are a tug of war battle where factions spar for the control of various territories on a large map. This feature puts special emphasis on social cooperation and teamwork. The feature is presented as a large map with various segmented “territories”, each of which can be fought over. Factions attack and defend the various territories, as ‘holding’ a territory provides specific, per-territory faction rewards.

How do you capture a territory?
If a territory is not controlled by any player, faction members can fight waves of walkers within the empty territory. After some time the fighting stops, and whichever faction has killed the most total cumulative walkers gains control of the territory.

If another Faction is already in control of a territory, it can be won through killing all of the territory’s defenders. Attacking a territory costs “Territories Energy”. For every defending character killed, the controlling faction loses an amount of Control. Control is a value that is directly tied to the number of characters assigned to defend a territory. If the defending faction has completely run out of Control, the attacking factions will have a chance to claim the fallen territory.

How do you defend a territory?
If a faction controls a territory, members can assign their characters to defense teams, who will face off against attacking players. Assigning teams costs Territory Energy, but players can assign as many characters as the cap allows, provided each team is comprised of five characters. Characters can be assigned at any time during a faction’s control, and as they are added, the territory’s control increases.

Owning Multiple Territories
To encourage factions to control multiple territories, bonuses are provided for owning multiple territories within a collection or group of territories.

Every group has a list of territories that are within it. Based on how many territories you own within that group, you will get extra rewards. Each group has a specific reward corresponding to the number of territories owned. These rewards and bonuses are given out on top of the regular territory rewards.

Reserve Teams
Any territory not owned by the player’s faction can be assigned “Reserve Teams” . A reserve team is a team of characters that will be automatically set to defend a territory should the player’s faction take control of it. For example, if a player assigns a reserve team to an enemy territory, and that player’s faction takes over the territory, all assigned reserve teams are automatically made defense teams.

Contested Territories
In this state, there is an ‘Occupying Faction’- the last team to deliver a killing blow to the incumbents. A territory is contested only for a limited amount of time, and during this time period, the occupying faction must hold on in order to fully control it. Remaining factions can attack other factions within the territory, including Occupying Faction. If the Occupying Faction is fully exhausted, the killing faction becomes the occupying faction and the timer resets. This process continues until an Occupying Faction survives for the duration of the timer, or until all teams are killed and only one faction remains.
