If you prefer not to have CHAT enabled in the game, you have the option to turn it off.

Tap the Options icon (small gear icon) in the top right corner of the home screen in the game. Locate "Chat Enabled" on the screen to uncheck the box.

Note: You can always enable CHAT again by returning to the Options menu and checking the box.
