If you prefer not to have music or sound while playing the game, you have the option to turn it off.

Tap the Options icon (small gear icon) in the far right corner of the home screen in the game. Locate the MUSIC or SOUND FX section and toggle between ON or OFF.

Note: You can always turn the music/sound back on by returning to the Options menu.
