Players can now challenge each other in real-time matches using VS Battle. After clicking on a player's profile in the friends, alliance, or global chat windows, a prompt will appear to invite the player to a match. The invite will appear in its own chat window to be accepted or rejected.
The first phase will be a ban phase where players will take turns picking two characters from the opponent's roster to be unavailable for the draft phase. From their players will enter the draft phase, where they will go back and forth picking characters from their roster that have not been chosen or banned to fill out their squad. This process will repeat until both players have a full squad, at this point a reject phase will begin where both players will have the opportunity to take out one of the chosen characters on the enemy squad to be replaced.
During the match, players will have a set time bar to complete their chosen action, once the action is chosen it will switch to the opponent's turn.
