What is the Borg Sphere?

The Borg Sphere is a Grade 5 Epic Battleship, unlockable at Ops Level 55+ and built with a unique progression system separate from standard ships.

Unlike other ships, the Borg Sphere uses exclusive tech systems instead of traditional research, making it essential for progressing.

How do I unlock the Borg Sphere?

Players unlock the Borg Sphere at Ops Level 55+

Why is the Borg Sphere important?

The Borg Sphere is required to:

  • Defeat the Borg Suppressor/Obliterator Hostiles

  • Unlocks new Weekly Tasks in the Maverick Faction that accelerate the progress

  • Unlocks new exclusive rewards in the Maverick Faction

    • Out of many other rewards, comes with 2x free refits on certain Tiers that add 2 new abilities

Standard ships are not effective against these hostiles by design.

How does the Borg Sphere progression system work?

It uses two exclusive systems:

Borg Operating Table (PFT) and Interplexing Beacon (CT).

These systems must be upgraded alongside the ship tier and provide power similar to research.

In more detail, the Borg Operating Table (PFT):

Boosts Warp Speed, Apex Shred (counters G5 hostile buff), Critical Damage reduction (counters G6 hostile buff) and Critical Damage.

The Interplexing Beacon (CT):

Has Hyperthermic Stabilizer (counters Obliterator Hyperthermic Resonance Beam), Critical Chance reduction (counters G7 hostile buff) and Shield Mitigation reduction.

Notes:

All PFT and CT buffs only work on the Borg Sphere ship.

All battle buffs only work against new Borg Conqueror Suppressor and Obliterator targets.

What are the new Conqueror Borg Hostiles?

Their start system is “Assimilated Sol” and players must leverage the new Borg Sphere ship to engage with them: they are the Conqueror Borg Suppressor and Conqueror Borg Obliterator.

Conqueror Borg Suppressor is present in systems all the time and is necessary for the new tasks to accelerate the faction. Players can engage with them only with the Borg Sphere and in order to power up against these -  Borg Operating Table (PFT) and, in later tiers, Interplexing Beacon (CT) need to be upgraded.

The Obliterator spawns less frequently but grants more points (with a high chance of instant kill - high risk, high reward). There is a way to minimize the risk - by upgrading the Sphere’s CT.

Note: The following officers are not of use with the new hostiles - If any of these officers is detected, the player hull will be instantly destroyed:

KATHRYN JANEWAY, CHRISTOPHER PIKE, ENTERPRISE-E PICARD

What are the Borg Sphere Refits?

The Borg Sphere unlocks 2 free refits as it progresses.

These refits are unlocked at specific tier milestones and grant new abilities:

Transwarp Drive (unlocks at T4)

  • Instantly warp to another system

  • Uses Transwarp Manifolds

  • Unlocks a daily chest with Manifolds via the Maverick Faction

Assimilation Protocol (unlocks at T5)

  • Applies Assimilate state to target players

  • Activates at combat start

  • Lasts 2 rounds

Refits improve:

  • Mobility

  • Combat effectiveness

What passive abilities does the Borg Sphere have?

The Borg Sphere includes 3 passive abilities:

Quantum Nullification Pulse: Disables Quantum Resonance Beam (instant-kill weapon against non-Borg Sphere ships from the Conqueror Borg hostiles)

Omicron Particle Charge: Increases base damage vs the new Conqueror Borg hostiles

Apex Dispersion Field: Increases Apex Barrier vs the new Conqueror Borg hostiles

How is the Borg Sphere connected to the Maverick Faction?

The Borg Sphere is deeply integrated into Maverick Faction progression.

It:

  • Unlocks new weekly tasks

  • Is required the completion of those tasks

  • Provides access to exclusive rewards (including 3 Artifacts and your choice of Ship Parts, and more!)

  • Supports faction progression and reputation

New Weekly Tasks:

Conqueror Borg Hostile Hunt (Solo)

There are 5 Solo tasks and each Solo task requires a progressively higher tier of Borg Sphere to score

Players will also see more of the Solo tasks the higher their Ops level

Players can complete tasks simultaneously (higher level hostiles will always score on the lower level tasks as well) so players can stack the credit and rep gains from all tasks they're eligible to score in.

Conqueror Borg Hostile Hunt (Alliance)

Each Alliance member can score by finishing their Solo Sphere tasks
