What is the USS Dauntless?
The Dauntless is an Epic Interceptor available starting at Operations level 45. It is designed for efficient hostile hunting and comes equipped with the unique Seek and Destroy ability, allowing ships to automatically target and engage hostiles in a system.
How do I unlock the Dauntless?
You can unlock the Dauntless once you reach Operations 45 and upgrade your Shipyard to level 45. Blueprints are available from the Aggregation Refinery starting on Day 1.
What level range does the Dauntless cover?
The Dauntless can be upgraded across 15 tiers and 75 levels, making it a long-term progression ship for levels 45–70.
What is the Seek and Destroy ability?
Seek and Destroy is the Dauntless’s active ability. When activated, it automatically locates, intercepts, and engages the nearest non-Armada hostile in a system. This ability cannot be used in Arena or Wave Defense systems.
What passive abilities does the Dauntless have?
The Dauntless gains multiple passives tied to Seek and Destroy and hostile hunting:
Active Sweep: Increases base damage against non-Armada hostiles while Seek and Destroy is active.
Active Apex Barrier: Increases Apex Barrier against non-Armada hostiles while Seek and Destroy is active.
Aft Expansion: Increases loot dropped from hostiles.
Aggregation Plunder: Increases Reclaimed Loot dropped from Aggregation hostiles.
Why is the Dauntless important?
This ship is built to make farming hostiles more efficient. Its abilities reduce grind, increase combat strength, and improve loot collection, especially in Aggregation loop progression. This makes it an essential vessel for commanders looking to maximize progression between levels 45 and 70.
Dauntless & Aggregation
How does the Dauntless affect the Aggregation Refinery?
Each Dauntless tier increases the daily bundle available in the Aggregation Refinery. These extra claims provide additional building materials, research dust, Forbidden Tech mats, and Prototype Tech mats, making the ship a significant progression multiplier within the Aggregation loop.
What exclusive resources are tied to the Dauntless?
The ship unlocks additional resource types that can’t be sourced elsewhere:
- U.S.S. Dauntless Parts for U.S.S. Dauntless component upgrades
- U.S.S. Dauntless Prototype Data for specialized research
- Dauntless System Scans, a daily currency that fuels activations
How do activations work with the Dauntless?
- Conversion: 100 System Scans = 1 activation
- Scaling: Starts at 1 activation per day and increases up to 4 at max tier plus research bonuses
- Unlock bonuses: Ship unlock grants 1 daily activation bundle and 6 gift activations
- Tier bonuses: Each time the ship tiers up, players receive a one-time gift that includes bonus activations.
- Limitations: No cooldowns apply, activations are limited only by available Dauntless System Scans and tier
What are the Dauntless System Scans caps by tier?
- Tier 1 → 300
- Tier 4 → 600
- Tier 10 → 900
Tier 15 → 1200
Are there restrictions on Dauntless ownership and Dauntless System Scans?
Yes. Players can only own one Dauntless.
Why is this important for Aggregation?
The Dauntless doesn’t just add combat efficiency — it reshapes Aggregation progression by scaling sourcing, granting unique resources, and creating a new activation economy tied directly to ship tiering. This makes the ship a central driver of long-term Aggregation growth.
Dauntless Active Ship Ability – Known Issue
What happens when I activate the Dauntless Active Ship Ability and restart the game?
After activating the Ability, you will need to wait until the duration ends. When restarting the game, the Ability will remain active (auto-hunting continues) and the ship cannot be moved manually. The "ASA" button becomes unresponsive and the ability cannot be turned off manually. You’ll need to wait until the ability duration ends. This is not intended. A fix is planned to be released later this week. In the meantime, you might want to avoid using the Ability within the Mirror Universe, where you can lose all your cargo.
