What is the Court of Q in Star Trek Fleet Command?
The Court of Q is a feature introduced by the omnipotent being Q, allowing Commanders to take part in Q’s Trials—personal, timed battles against powerful enemies that test skill, strength, and strategy. Commanders can earn valuable rewards like Protomatter, Forbidden Tech parts, and Seals of Approval by completing these challenges.
How do I unlock the Court of Q?
The Court of Q becomes available at Operations Level 19 and higher. To access Q’s Trials, you must first build the Court of Q using Court of Q Keys, which can be found in your Gifts Section.
What happens when I upgrade the Court of Q?
Upgrading your Court of Q building increases the bonus Protomatter you earn from Trials and unlocks access to new Trials. Higher levels also provide access to additional Forbidden Tech refinery options and upgrades.
How do Q’s Trials work?
You begin a Trial by spending Trial Bells, obtained through daily gifts, events, or offers.
Each Trial challenges you to defeat a unique hostile before the timer runs out.
The enemy resets its Shield and Hull Health (SHP/HHP) between each attempt.
You can retry a Trial multiple times while the timer is active.
Trials increase in difficulty as you rank up, unlocking stronger opponents and better rewards.
What are the rewards for completing Q’s Trials?
Protomatter, used to upgrade Forbidden Tech.
Milestone Rewards, which may include unique Forbidden Tech pieces and upgrade materials.
Seals of Approval, which unlock new tiers of Trials.
The amount of Protomatter earned depends on the Trial Rank and Court of Q level.
What happens if I fail a Trial?
If you do not defeat the target before the timer expires, the Trial fails. You’ll need to spend additional Trial Bells to try again. It’s recommended to increase your ship power before attempting higher-level Trials.
What are Trial Ranks and Assessment Rank?
Trial Rank increases each time you complete a Trial. Higher Ranks yield stronger enemies and better rewards.
Assessment Rank is your highest Trial Rank achieved across all Trials. It directly affects your upgrade success rate for Forbidden Tech—so increasing it is key to long-term progression.
What is Protomatter used for?
Protomatter is a special material earned from Q’s Trials, used to upgrade Forbidden Tech. The amount awarded increases with your Court of Q level and the difficulty of the Trial completed.
What ship types appear in Q’s Trials?
Each Trial features enemies that are generally of the same ship type—Explorer, Battleship, or Interceptor—but Q occasionally mixes things up by assigning a special enemy of a different type.
What are Seals of Approval?
Seals of Approval are rewards obtained by reaching certain Trial Milestones. They are used to unlock new tiers of Trials and progress further in Q’s challenges.
Can I replay completed Trials?
Yes. Once you reach the maximum Rank for a Trial, you can still replay it to continue earning Protomatter, though Milestone Rewards can only be collected once.
Keep pushing!
Each Trial awards Seals of Approval for the next tier of Trials when you reach certain Milestones. The type and amount vary depending on the Trial, but they are always available in the tier before the one you are trying to unlock. Assuming you make it past any Trials at all. I shall try and contain my disappointment.
For example:
To unlock the ★★★ Trial - Explorers Trial, you will need to collect ★★★ Seal of Approval - Explorers. These can be earned by completing the ★★ Trial - Explorers, ★★ Trial - Battleships, and ★★ Trial - Interceptors.
In addition to Seals, the Court of Q you are fortunate to have grace your base, will also need to be at a required level before you can unlock any higher-value Trials. Remember, my Court serves as a temple to me, and will be treated accordingly. Upgrade it often, or I will find you, and transform you back into the protoplasmic goo you evolved from not five minutes ago!
Seal of Approval ★★ (Uncommon)
Seal of Approval ★★★★ / ★★★★★ (Epic)
NOTE: Take heed, mortal! Be mindful - assuming you have a mind to fill - of your surroundings when initiating a Trial. Hostiles will usually spawn within 2 systems of your base. If you foolishly initiate a Trial too close to a system you cannot enter... you might be in trouble! And you will definitely disappoint me.
