What is the Ex-Borg Faction and how does it work?
The Ex-Borg Faction represents former Borg drones seeking to rebuild their lives after breaking free from the Collective. Although many still fear them due to their Borg origins, the Ex-Borg fight for acceptance and survival while sharing their advanced technology with those willing to work alongside them.
This faction is positive-only, meaning reputation cannot be lost through player actions. To unlock the Ex-Borg Faction, reach Operations Level 38 and complete the mission “We Are People Too”, which awards your first Ex-Borg Reputation points.
Once unlocked, the faction introduces two new Daily Goals:
Freebooter Hunt – Defeat 2 Freebooter hostiles to earn Ex-Borg Reputation and Credits.
Freebooter Dominance – Defeat 6 Freebooters to earn Ex-Borg Credits only.
Freebooters are powerful enemies that require planning and strategy. After unlocking the faction, it may take until the next event reset for Freebooter Dailies to appear.
Ex-Borg Credits can be used to unlock nodes in the Ex-Borg Research Tree or purchase faction store chests, which scale with your ship tiers (for example, Actian Venom activities scale with your Mantis Tier).
The Ex-Borg Research Tree offers a wide variety of improvements to gameplay efficiency, including material cost reduction, faster mining, and enhanced combat stats such as piercing, mitigation, SHP, HHP, and reduced PvP damage.
Commanders at Ops Level 40 and above gain access to additional Ex-Borg Reputation Brackets and new systems within the Delphic Expanse. Over 15 new systems have been added, populated with Xindi hostiles the first in the game to feature multiple combat buffs that require strategic counters.
Defeating these Xindi hostiles is challenging, as they can negate critical damage. The Particle Beam Delay, an Ex-Borg Faction boon unlocked at Bracket 10, is key to disrupting their weapon systems and turning the tide of battle.
Xindi hostiles drop Xindi Scraps, which can be traded in the Store for Ex-Borg Credits. Most exchanges grant Common or Uncommon Credits, with chances to receive Rare or Epic Credits.
The Ex-Borg Faction Store (available at Ops 38+) also includes over 25 new Favors, similar to Bajoran and Wave Defense Favors. These can be purchased with Credits to unlock powerful buffs, including Repair Tech, Shield, and Hull improvements.
New Ex-Borg-themed Daily Goals have been added, offering improved Daily Claim rewards such as:
Rare officer shards
Forbidden Tech materials
FKR Credits and Reputation
