Factions provides you with several advantages, from exclusive ships to protection in their space. Choosing wisely is important, but luckily, you don't have to be exclusively devoted to one!
In Factions like the Federation, Romulan, and Klingon, your reputation can decrease or increase depending on specific actions in the game (choosing the wrong side in a mission, killing your faction's ships in their space, etc.)
In the Factions above, there are three reputation locks at 10M points, 1B points, and 15B points. Once you reach a Reputation Lock, your reputation will not go below that Lock. This provides a unique advantage when you want to increase your reputation in other Factions.
On the other hand, the Augment, Outlaw and Bajoran Reputation behave differently. They do not have Faction Locks, but your Reputation cannot be lowered.
