What is Plutonium and how is it used in Star Trek Fleet Command?

In Star Trek Fleet Command, Plutonium is a special type of ship part used for specific upgrades and constructions related to the Augment faction. It is primarily required for upgrading the Botany Bay and for building hijacked Augment ships.

How can I get Plutonium?

Plutonium is obtained through the Augment gameplay loop, which involves mining, exchanging data, and purchasing parts:

  1. Mine Augment Data: Use a survey ship (like the Botany Bay) to mine Corrupted Data and Encoded Data from mining nodes in Augment space.

  2. Exchange Data for Augment Credits: After collecting Augment Data, exchange it for Augment Credits in the Augment Faction Store or through Augment faction systems.

  3. Purchase Plutonium: Spend Augment Credits in the Augment Faction Store to buy Common, Uncommon, or Rare Plutonium parts. The type of Plutonium available depends on your player level and Augment reputation:

    • Common Plutonium: Unlocks at player level 20.

    • Uncommon Plutonium: Unlocks at player level 24.

    • Rare Plutonium: Unlocks at player level 30.

What is Plutonium used for?

  • Upgrading the Botany Bay: Improves the ship’s cargo capacity, mining rate, and protection stats.

  • Building Hijacked Ships: Plutonium is required to construct hijacked Augment ships.

  • Other Augment-Related Tasks: Used for Augment research and upgrades linked to faction progress and Botany Bay optimization.
